RDC WangarattaSectors

Health

The health sector is characterised by a range of organisations – primary health services, collaborative partnerships, private organisations, and not for profit organisations.  We have worked with an enormous range of health service organisations to develop and deliver strategic plans, service plans, corporate plans, community and stakeholder engagement, staff development, and facilitate critical decision making workshops.   Several of our health sector clients have been engaging RDC annually for eight years and more.

Community

RDC has worked with community development projects over the past sixteen years, in ways that create community capacity building, and leave a lasting legacy.  We have worked with small rural communities and districts on revitalisation projects, to large neighbourhoods, regional cities, and entire regions on projects that help discover the best of those communities and use those strengths to meet current and future challenges.

RDC has worked on long term visions (2030 plans), community plans, feasibility studies for community projects, wide community and stakeholder engagement (including working with those who are normally least engaged) and facilitating community decision making.

Economic Development

Growth in rural and regional communities is dependent upon a sound economic base and future thinking in economic development that is consistent with the strengths of the area.  RDC has a strong record in developing useable economic development strategies that have resulted in manageable, achievable, and exciting strategic directions and plans.

We use economic analysis, sectoral analysis, stakeholder, industry, business and community engagement as ways to understand the current economic drivers and the possible future opportunities and directions. We work closely with all stakeholders to develop strategic directions with clear goals, actions and implementation plans.

We delight in clients coming back to us after three to four years showing us dog-eared, well-tabbed strategies that have been implemented and have created positive change for their communities and region.

Tourism

Tourism is a key element in economic and community development, and we have worked across states to develop and deliver tourism strategies, and undertake feasibility assessments for tourism projects, and facilitate meetings and processes for tourism focused organisations and partnerships.

RDC often partners with tourism specialists to ensure that we have sound market driven data and that we tailor the appropriate strategies for the product strengths and potential product development in a region to the target markets and their preferences.

As with all of our work, we use a strengths-based approach, and work closely with those involved in the ultimate delivery of the strategy and those most affected by the strategy.  This truly collaborative approach ensures a high level of understanding and ownership of the resulting plans and directions.

Natural Resource Management and Climate Change

Our work in Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Climate Change is extensive.  Our NRM team include specialists in project and program evaluation, land and water planning and management including extensive experience in project management and the development of management plans and strategies.  Our team has developed a diverse portfolio of projects for Catchment Management Authorities in Victoria, Local Government, Department of Environment and Primary Industries, rural water authorities and Environment Protection Authority.

Education

RDC delivers its full range of services in the education sector – facilitation, strategic planning, community and stakeholder engagement and leadership development.

We work with universities, TAFEs, the adult education sector, school districts, individual schools and their boards, and with partnership organisations such as Local Learning and Employment Networks to develop sound strategic plans, and facilitate workshops that help people make critical decisions.
